Economic diplomacy

The activity of accompanying and assisting businesses in international markets is a consolidated priority for the Farnesina (in close connection with other competent ministries and agencies), in awareness of the decisive role of internationalization for the growth of businesses and the economic system of our country. For this reason, more than 200 diplomatic offices (Embassies and Consulates) constitute a Network at the service of Italian citizens and businesses around the world.

As part of their economic diplomacy action, Embassies and Consulates mainly provide market information and orientation and institutional support in relations with local authorities on all occasions when this is considered necessary.

Embassies and Consulates also negotiate the removal of barriers to our exports and issue business visas to foreign operators who intend to travel to our country, for example, to participate in trade fairs, sign contracts or visit factories.

More information on this can be found at Il visto per l’Italia  and on the website of the Embassy of Italy in Washington.
