Registration of Marriage Certificates

A marriage, of an Italian citizen, celebrated abroad must be registered in Italy, at the AIRE Municipality of the applicant.  Before being able to transcribe a marriage certificate, it is imperative that the previous marriages and/or related divorces be registered at the competent Italian municipality as well. Italian citizens born abroad, before requesting the transcription of their marriage certificate, must make sure that their birth certificate has been duly transcribed at an Italian municipality and indicate it on the transcription request form.
